Your sole-trader clients’ receipts, already sorted
When a client keeps their records in Splitstick, they send you one folder for the tax year: the figures by HMRC category, and the receipt behind every line. Nothing for you to install, log into or pay for.
What lands in your inbox
Your client presses Send to your accountant and downloads a zip for the tax year they’ve chosen. They send it to you however they already do — email, a shared drive, your client portal.
Every scan is named date_supplier_amount, so any line on the
spreadsheet can be matched to its paper without opening a thing.
for-my-accountant-2026-27.zip
- Read me first.txtwhat’s in the folder, the period and the total
- Bookkeeping spreadsheet.xlsxevery transaction, totalled by HMRC category
- Expenses report.pdfthe same figures as a readable report
- Mileage log.xlsxjourneys at HMRC flat rates — if the client logs mileage
- Receipts/every scan, plus an index of them all
Clients can also download an SA103 summary: expenses by box number, 17 to 31, split into the four MTD quarters.
The details already handled
The things that usually come back as questions.
VAT by scheme
Net figures for standard-scheme clients who reclaim VAT; gross for flat-rate and unregistered clients, where VAT is part of the cost.
Personal kept apart
Anything marked personal is left out of the totals and listed separately, so it never muddies the claimable figure.
Foreign receipts in sterling
Converted at HMRC’s published monthly exchange rate for the month of each transaction.
Entertaining flagged
Business entertaining is marked as usually disallowable on the SA103 summary, rather than slipping through as a cost.
Undated receipts counted
A receipt with no readable date is reported, not silently dropped, so nothing goes missing from a year.
Mileage done properly
HMRC flat rates for the tax year, the lower rate after 10,000 miles, and a warning if fuel is being claimed too.
Records and exports — nothing more
Splitstick is the record-keeping layer. It doesn’t submit returns or MTD updates to HMRC, it doesn’t connect to bank accounts, and there’s no accountant dashboard to learn. Your clients keep their receipts in order; you carry on filing with the software you already use.
